4/09/2021-🌟🌟🌟 MAGIC MUSHROOMπŸ„πŸ„πŸ„πŸ„ Saturday A Day For Interesting Biology Facts

Psilocybin mushrooms or magic mushrooms are a type of fungi, which contains psychoactive compounds called psilocybin and psilocin.Psilocin and psilocybin are the two essential components in these mushrooms that have a substantial impact on the human mind. The compounds in psilocybin mushrooms may give users a "mind-melting" feeling, but in fact, the drug does just the opposite —  psilocybin actually boosts the brain's connectivity.
The resulting brain connectivity maps showed that, while under the influence of the drug, the brain synchronizes activity among areas that would not normally be connected.
Shrooms act in other strange ways upon the brain. Psilocybin works by binding to receptors for the neurotransmitter serotonin.
In one study, brain imaging of volunteers who took psilocybin revealed decreased activity in information-transfer areas such as the thalamus, a structure deep in the middle of the brain. Slowing down the activity in areas such as the thalamus may allow information to travel more freely throughout the brain, because that region is a gatekeeper that usually limits connections. A 2011 study found that after one dose of psilocybin, people became more open to new experiences for at least 14 months, a shockingly stable change. People with open personalities are more creative and more appreciative of art, and they value novelty and emotion.

The reason for the change seems to be psilocybin's effects on emotions. People describe mushroom trips as extremely profound experiences, and report feelings of joy and connectedness to others and to the world around them

People can undergo a wide range of situations after having mushrooms, from euphoria to hallucinations, and from vomiting to nausea. These mushrooms have a long history of use in Mesoamerica in religious and spiritual rituals. In the United States and Europe, Magic Mushrooms are considered one of the most popular recreational psychedelics.
Three of the most widely known species of psilocybe mushrooms are:
  • Psilocybe cubensis (the Golden Teacher)
  • Psilocybe semilanceata (the Liberty Cap)
  • Psilocybe cyanescens (the Wavy Cap)
These mushrooms are considered to be Schedule 1 drugs, along with cocaine and heroin.
Psilocybin, which is one of the major psychoactive compounds found in these mushrooms, might help overcome nicotine addiction. According to the same study, Psilocybe mushrooms might be useful in treating obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, and other psychiatric disorders.
