17/03/2021 NUMMADE SWANTHAM PUTTUM BEEFUM
17/03/2021
I reached college by 9.00 am. Today our seniors had their commission. Due to Covid 19 seniors are not able to have their commission in the schools so we juniors should listen to them as their students. Seniors are allotted to take classes for 10 minutes, some of the students from our class selected as time keepers need to ring the bell after this every ten minutes to end the class. The commission started at 10.00 am. I felt that all of my seniors were so dedicated and had a great passion for teaching. How brilliantly they took the class. The charts, models, explanation skills, interaction with the students, the reinforcement they give everything was outstanding.
After the lunch break Maya ma’am took the class. once ma’am asked us to write down our strength and weakness and hand it over to her. Maam said that the common problem mentioned in those letters was lack of self confidence and poor self esteem so today we will discuss this too and present a slide with the caption “Self confidence and Self esteem”.
While she was explaining she asked us how many of you are sure that at least 5 people around you will support you when you are in a condition where you are in abad state of life or mentally or emotionally completely weak. I put up my hand because I live in a joint family consisting of 8 members and am sure that they will support me in every critical situation. Teacher moved to Fathima and asked the same question. She burst out of tears, I was sitting beside her, I turned with a shock. I didn’t expect that she would cry. But the reason she said also made me cry. She had to face severe emotional and mental torture from the the part of her PG project co-guide. He treated her so badly, he behaved so nice with others and totally opposite to her. She needed to suffer for 2 years, no one believed her as he was a wolf in a lambs coat. She put her maximum effort to successfully do all the experiments but he never appreciated her and he only focused on the minor mistakes she was making. He made her completely hopeless and no one trusted her when she shared her experience with him. She lost her confidence and she started to think that she can’t do anything. but after getting admission in theophilus college she started to recognize that the power and strong faith in her is increasing day by day and she started to regain self confidence and cultivate self esteem. I think she is now totally relaxed and happy, because she threw out all the burden within her. Maya mam put confidence in her and she said that no one can handle this situation like Fathima done, and she is very bold and courageous. So always develop an attitude of gratitude.
Last hour was taken by Gibi ma’am and we had a fun activity. Teacher asked us to take 2 small pieces of paper and asked half of the students in the class to write a pair. For example Dosa in one paper and Chatni in the next paper , then fold it and mix it and ask each of us to take one folded paper. Then we have to find out our pair from the 90 plus students. We ran calling our name. I got “Putt” I am not able to find any pazham, payar, kadala or pappadam. I found Varsha Chechi with the slip ”beef” in her hand as a revolutionary combo we joined together to make a new history. Those who are bored out of eating conventional currys with putt can try putt with beef and we will be an outstanding tasty pair. True love story of puttu and beef will never end, the sacrifice of beef and putt expectation to reunite…….

23/03/2021 Glucose💙💙💙💙💙And Nisarga💚💚💚💚💚
Today started with a practising for flash mob on behalf of revealing our Union name to students and as a startup of the inaugural function of our union and it was a funny session. Our dear loving seniors were preparing to give us a beautiful memorable day. The 64th College Union of MTTC Ekayana organized a wonderful fresher’s day for us. The name of the function is itself interesting “GLUCOSE- to energize the Juniors”. They gave us glucose when we entered the auditorium. Inauguration ceremony started as soon as we entered the auditorium. Our guest of honour was RJ Unni from red FM. He talked about the confidence he had achieved and shared his experience at schools and college and the teacher who inspired him the most. I feel happy about choosing teaching as my profession. Then masterpiece of this event was the talk given by our Joju sir, I don’t have any words, that talk was amazing. That was a powerful spellbound talk. After the official inauguration the senior’s masterplan revealed they arranged a session named as “CHAKKAPAZHAM” for us. That was a preplanned trap for us (innocent juniors). Before that to energize us they gave us a sweet box to fill our stomach. They have all juniors' names in lotts. They call the name of the students; we have to go to the stage. Either we get an individual task or will have to perform a group task they give. I got a group task, and the topic was to make a fight for Dosa at Big Boss house. It was full of fun.
After the fresher’s day program, all the union members and MTTC hostel members run down for the flash mob. Rather than we expected we danced very well and officially announced the Union name “NISARGA”and Motto “THROUGH THE THORNS TO THE STARS”. Afternoon section was given for practising for the program that will be held tomorrow. Me, Vineetha and Hima got assigned with decoration duty, but majority of the stage decoration was done with the help of our dear friends- Roshna, Aleena, Greeshma, Athira, Ashna, Sreekesh, Deepa, Subinjith and other hostlers. A great thanks to them.
Tomorrow the official inauguration of NISARGA will take place, So, WAIT AND WATCH………

22/ 03/2021 World Water Day
Mondays always start with a hope of getting good experiences, hope to discover myself, hope not to repeat the mistakes again, hope to be a better person… etc. After the prayer I reached the general hall. Maya teacher took the first hour. 22nd March is WORLD WATER DAY mam talked about some facts regarding water.
Initial half-hour we discussed Cultural Diffusion, Cultural lag, Enculturation, Acculturation, Cultural Inertia, Sanskritization and Role of education with regard to culture. English optional continued their seminar.
Next hour was engaged by the principal sir. Sir first gave a gist of the previous class and brushed up our memory. Sir talked about Heterogeneous thinking- heterogeneity of thinking means that in any culture and in any individual, there exists no one, homogeneous form of thinking, but different types of verbal thinking. So a teacher needs to focus his or her students into a homogeneous process of thinking while they are ready to deliver concepts. Then discussed different types of questions. First one was a Developmental question here the teacher uses this question to develop the learner’s thinking beyond simple recall or knowledge and experience make teachers to form this kind of questions.
Next one was Evaluation questions. It can be Summative, Formative and Diagnostic. Formative questions or assessment used during the learning process in order to enhance learning. Summative questions used at the end of the learning process. Used to make judgement on the student learning process. Diagnostic questions are designed to help identify and crucially understand student’s mistakes and misconceptions in an efficient and accurate manner. Prognostic assessments act as a means of estimation and prediction of the future career. Another term is aptness which is depending on the age group.
Next sir taught about Probing and Redirection. Probing means the ability of a teacher to provide some clues to the students so that the thought process of the student will be focused and generation of correct response will take place. Redirection means shifting from one student to another student to get the correct response. Another term appreciation which means giving a kind of recognition at the end of the successful response of the student, an act of reinforcement. Then we discussed the 4th sub skill: Skill of Explanation.
All the union members were called for a meeting. Principal sir talked to us and provided valuable information for the proper conduction of the union inauguration ceremony. And enquired about all the plans and preparations we had in mind. We discussed the programs and presented the program schedule with the teachers. They gave us different suggestions and ideas. Gibi ma’am, Shiney ma’am and Rakesh Sir also talked to us regarding their experience from previous college unions. We got tea and snacks at the end of the meeting. As a surprise Albin Father brought Snickers in happiness of having his priesthood ordination. I think the whole nature was so happy today, beautiful rain drizzled over the earth and gave mother earth a beautiful fragrance once again. We took photos in the rain in different poses. 23 year old grown up babies always wish to play in rain…….
